This combined hiking and sightseeing tour leads to the most diverse and spectacular protected area of Georgia, to the Kazbegi National Park in the Greater Caucasus Mountains.  The accompaniment by local guide will give you direct access to the Georgian Caucasus region, its natural beauty and culture.

Itinerary

Day 1   Tbilisi – Truso Gorge – Stephantsminda

Driving on the "Military Highway" towards Caucasus Mountains. After 2.5 hours of drive, we reach the scenic Truso Gorge. Our first adventure trail starts here.
During the hike you will immense in the natural and cultural wonders of the Caucasus mountains. Through subalpine and alpine meadows, we pass streams, tuff rocks, travertines, mineral lakes, but also ancient medieval settlements (Okrokana, Ketrisi) and the Zakagori ruins.

In the evening check in our hotel and enjoying traditional dinner in the nearby restaurant

Overnight stay in Stephantsminda

Day 2   Stephantsminda – Gergeti – Gudauri – Ananuri – Tbilisi

In the morning, departure to village of Gergeti.
Hiking to the Gergeti Trinity Church built in the 14th century. The church is situated at an elevation of 2170m, at the foot of Mount Kazbek.

Level of difficulty: Easy to moderate

After exploring of the church, continue driving towards settlement Kobi, where we take the cable car up to Cobi Pass at the evaluation of 3100 meters. From this site you enjoy breath-taking panoramic views to the Caucasus Mountains.
Our next stop is the Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument in Gudauri. The soviet mosaic monument tells the storys about Russian-Georgian relationships in the Soviet times.
The Monument location is the scenic Terg Valley which is an excellent place for paragliding. If you are adrenaline lover, your guide will help you to organize paraglide.
Our last site to visit is Ananuri Fortress, a castle complex overlooking the Aragvi valley. It was built in the 13th century. The church is to note for its unique carved facades and frescos from the Golden Age of Georgia.
